Power of Truth

The Power of The Truth

“Come see a man, which told me all the things I ever did: is this not the Christ?.” John 4:29

The Truth is Living Water

The Samaritan woman had probably come to this well every day her whole life. Drawing water for herself and her families, day after day, year after year. She knows this well very well; “Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us this well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?” v12, it had history to her. But on this day, she was to draw MUCH MORE than water from this well.

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” v17

At this, the woman does not scoff, nor does she get angered or brush him off. How could she believe such words? What could be this living water? Who is this man? “Sir, give me this living water that I thirst not, neither come to draw.” v15

AND HERE, we find that THE TRUTH is LIVING WATER. Jesus starts by asking her to go get her husband, to which she replies that she does not have a husband, and Jesus agrees and then reads her her life story.

The TRUTH leads to Evangelism?

“Come see a man, which told me all the things I ever did: is this not the Christ?” And they all went out to see him. Think about this- this woman has had five husbands and is living now with another who is not her husband. Now, they may have died, but this one is not her husband. And, what else could Jesus have told her that leads her to say, “all things I ever did.”? And imagine, she was so excited by the truth that was laid out before her that she went and told EVERYONE. Would you do the same if Jesus told you everything YOU had ever done? This is the evangelism that leads from hearing the truth about yourself. That the Christ himself has told you everything. That people who were healed went and spread the news abroad is easy to take, but everything you ever did? “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.” v39

Evangelism leads to more Living Water

“And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.” v41-42

Not Everyone Thirsts for Living Water

The TRUTH caused Jesus trouble and disbelief on many occasions:

When he told the mourners that the “maid is not dead, but sleepeth,” they scorned him. When he said that he and God, were one they were angry with him (see chapter 10 v30-31 for example), and when he told his disciples that they would need to eat his flesh and drink his blood, that was too much for some to take onboard and they turned away.

“Thomas said unto him, Lord, we know no whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.'” Jn 14:5-6.

I won’t go into this any further. I’d rather let you enjoy the journey for yourselves. How exciting could be your future together. Let me encourage you to become a Follower of Jesus who LIVES

And be warned, Jesus also said that straight (difficult) is the gate, and narrow is the path that leads to eternal life- and FEW there are that will enter into it. This is LIVING WATER. Will you be one of the FEW? Do you thirst every day for the TRUTH?

Pray that God will bring you into the relationship, according to the Spirit in you, with the person you are meant to be with, and that together, you will see the TRUTH in this message and will find great joy, to prepare yourselves through practice as members of the wise virgins ready to serve our Bridegroom, the Living Jesus when he returns. I had the most fantastic opportunity myself some 30 years ago before Satan stole the gift from me. Yet, I am still devoted to my wife after all these years apart. I couldn’t have it any other way…and neither should you. Study this message and embrace the gifts that God gives you.

Together, bear much fruit and glorify God.
